How to Crate Train Your Pug

Crate training is generally considered one of the fastest, and best, ways you can train your puppy to teach them not to go to the bathroom in the house. Crate training takes advantage of one of the strong instincts of your pug: that they will not go to the bathroom in their own personal space if it can be avoided. Having a crate for your puppy will then mean that it will hold when it wants to go to the bathroom. Pay attention to your puppy's behavior and when they get finicky, you can put your puppy on a leash and take it outside.

People are always taking their Yorkshire terriers to the groomer. Why? Well, Yorkshire terriers can grow hair up to 2 feet in length! Considering that they are nowhere near two feet tall, this makes regular grooming a must!

This is a good time to use positive reinforcement so your pug will learn that this is a good action. Every time you take your puppy out to go to the bathroom, give a treat and praise every time your puppy does so. This will help reinforce that outside is the place to go to the bathroom. After that the pug can run freely in the house until it needs to go again, which for some really young puppies can be as often as every hour, but later as they age. Keep a close eye on your pet to let them out when they really need to go.

Labrador retrievers, as their name indicates, were bred to retrieve things. However, most people think of them today as retrieving sticks, or other similar objects. In reality, they were originally bred to help fishermen by retrieving fishing nets!

There are several factors you need to keep in mind while crate training your pug: Only use the crate when you are going to be home for the entire time of confinement. Pugs are social creatures, and you should never have them in a closed crate more than two hours, or while you're away from home--even if it's only for a short time. Don't put the crate away from everyone. Pugs want to be part of the family, so even in a crate they will be much happier in a room full of people than off to the side when they can't see anyone. After your pug is successfully housebroken, remove the door from the crate. Now your pug has its own private space and can come and go in the house as it pleases.

A st. bernard became a mother in 1975. While that wasn't unusual by itself, the unusual thing was that she had twenty-three puppies! She now shares this record with two other dogs, one of which originally set it in 1944.

If you keep these tips in mind and put in the due diligence the first couple months to get your pug on the right track, you will not only have a well trained house pet, but will save yourself more time in training and re-training. Done effectively, crate training is the perfect way to train your pet to be a part of the family.

The tibetan terrier is not a true terrier and is probably more closely related to the lhasa apso. However, the tibetan terrier is indeed from Tibet, where monks once treasured this intelligent breed of dogs as guardians of their temples.
