Popular Pug Gifts

The joy of owning a pug provides owners with a number of opportunities to provide entertainments for their pets. Popular pug gifts are as varied as the types of DOG breeds out there. Some pugs like to chew, some like to fetch, and some like to play with people toys as much as those special balls and chews you bought for them at the local pet store.

When it comes to collies there is some debate about the smooth-coat collie. Some breed organizations consider the smooth-coat and rough-coat dogs to be variations of the same breed. Others consider them to be completely seperate.

When shopping for pug gifts, whether for your pug or for someone else's, keep in mind the size and breed of DOG you are shopping for. Some of the most popular toys on the market today are edible chews, like rawhide bones, moccasins and balls as well as pig's ears. Some believe that such toys are dangerous for pugs, while others feel just the opposite.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest lived dog was an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey. The dog lived to be 29. This case was considered unusual since smaller dogs generally live longer. The chihuahua is actually the breed that tends to live the longest.

Christmas time provides a wealth of ideas for pug gifts, and many stores carry Christmas Puggie Stockings filled to overflowing with toys, balls, chews, stuffed animals and DOG biscuits and cookies. While this may be great for some pugs, others will merely glance at the assortment and turn away. What gives? You've tried the hard toys, more commonly found in shapes from bones to balls. But have you tried a Kong? This is a hollow toy that may come in various shapes. Placing a tasty treat inside will keep your pug happily occupied for hours!

Beagles are known to be extremely social and cheerful dogs. They are expected to be so friendly that, even in dog shows, the judges expect them to be happy. They have points removed in the judging if they look to be unhappy.

Nylon chew toys are also popular, but make sure that you keep an eye on the condition of any toy you give your pug to make sure he can't swallow it or small pieces won't come off to offer a potential choke hazard. If you have a picky pug, or one that's just spoiled rotten already, why not think of another way to offer your pug a gift of entertainment that will not only stimulate them, but provide healthful benefits as well?

The greater swiss mountain dog, or swissy, is believed to be a direct descendant of the ancient tibetan mastiff. A versatile dog, the swissy traditionally drove cattle, guarded property, protected human companions and fought in wars.

Did you know that many pug owners regularly take their pugs to a spa for massages and grooming? Sure, this may cost a little more than your typical puggie haircut, but you know how nice it feels to be pampered once in a while. In addition to the bath and grooming, massage works wonders for pugs muscles, circulation and well being.

The German Shepherd Dog is also known as the Alsatian, or Deutsche Schaferhund. Rin Tin Tin, probably the most famous American German Shepherd, was actually born in France in September of 1918 and then brought to America later.

Dogs are also fond of balls, Frisbees and ordinary objects left lying around, so make sure that you don't leave anything within reach of a new puppy or small DOG that you don't want damaged! Puppies love to latch onto anything while they're teething, so providing them something to chew on besides your favorite shoes will keep everyone happy.

Pekingese dogs are quite small. This worked out well for their ancient masters, who were ancient Chinese royalty. These royal masters used to carry the peke dogs along in the sleeves of their royal robes.

Buying pug gifts and toys can be fun, inexpensive and entertaining for your pug, but again, just make sure that the toy or gift you bring home is age and size appropriate, just like you do for your kids. After all, your pug is part of your family too.
